It’s that time of year again! Time when the kids start off back to school and everything gears back up from the less scheduled summer. As this new month begins, it is my hope that each of you found time to rest and catch your breath, perhaps with some time away visiting with family or on the road seeking new adventures. I hope you had a chance to rediscover God at work within the ordinary events of days spent at the beach or wherever your vacation led you; to find God in the ordinary people you encountered in your travels both far and near.

Sometimes a little time away can help us to see more clearly who we are and who the Holy One is calling us to be. And so it is also my hope that as we come to August, we come with a renewed sense of purpose and call.

And what we are called to be are heart-warmed disciples of Jesus Christ who live our lives in such a way as to make other disciples for Jesus Christ, for the transformation of the world. We come together as a faith community because all of us realize that we can’t do this wonderful, complicat-ed, hard thing called life alone. God is always with us and for us and being God’s people means that we need to be with and for each other. We need to find a home with God and God’s people.

It has been a great honor to start to get to know you and your stories. I look forward to hearing many more in the weeks and months to come. I want to thank you for the overwhelmingly gener-ous “pounding” on July 16th. Our pantry is full to the brim of flour, sugar, canned goods and love. The Spirit has certainly blessed our family in this community.

If you have been away for a few weekends or even a few years, I invite you back Sunday, August 13th as we kick off the fall season. We will be blessing backpacks the day after we hand out all those notebooks and pencils that we collected for Mexia Cares. Everyone should start the school year off with a blessing! Be watching for choir practice to get back into full swing in Au-gust. All parts of Christ’s body are needed!
The Spirit is compelling us to move forward as a community of faith into the future that God has prepared for us. Won’t you join us as we make this exciting journey together?

Peace and passion,

Pastor Jenn
